Imphal, Mar 26: In a major crackdown, Manipur Police have arrested five militants and three drug smugglers while seizing narcotics worth Rs 2 crore in separate operations across the state.
According to officials, the militants, affiliated with different insurgent groups, were apprehended during coordinated raids. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the arrested individuals but confirmed that they were involved in unlawful activities aimed at destabilizing the region.

In a parallel operation, police intercepted three smugglers carrying a large consignment of narcotics, estimated to be worth Rs 2 crore in the illicit market. The seizure included heroin and other banned substances, indicating a well-organized drug trafficking network operating in the region.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover links between militant outfits and drug cartels. Officials stated that the security forces remain committed to tackling insurgency and the narcotics trade in the state.
