Raipur, Mar 27: In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at the residence of a former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, just two weeks after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out searches in connection with an alleged betting and money laundering case.
The case involves a multi-crore betting racket with suspected links to influential figures. The CBI’s latest action is aimed at gathering further evidence after the ED’s probe revealed financial irregularities tied to online betting operations.

Sources indicate that multiple locations linked to the ex-CM and his close associates were searched as part of the investigation. Officials suspect that large sums of money were routed through offshore betting platforms, prompting central agencies to intensify their crackdown on illicit financial transactions.
The raids have triggered strong reactions from opposition leaders, who have termed the investigation a politically motivated move. However, officials maintain that the probe is based on substantial evidence linking key individuals to the betting syndicate.
The CBI is expected to summon several individuals for questioning, while the ED continues to examine financial trails related to the case.
With both central agencies tightening their grip on the investigation, further developments are anticipated in the coming days.
