Theft at Shiroor residence; box containing Rs 40,000 worth of coins, notes stolen

Brahmavar, Mar 28: Theft of a box containing Rs 40,000 worth of coins and notes occurred at the residence of Rajeevi (70) in Muddu Mane, Shiroor on the night of March 26, between 7 pm and 1.15 am on March 27.

The incident took place when the complainant Rajeevi had locked the door of the house and left to attend a Yakshagana performance taking place nearby.

During this period, unidentified thieves broke into the house through the rear door, gaining access to the premises. They reportedly stole a box containing approximately Rs 40,000 worth of coins and notes, which were kept inside a Godrej cupboard. The theft was discovered upon the complainant’s return.

A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station and is under investigation.
