Hyderabad, Mar 28: Telangana Police have emerged as the top performer in the country in cybercrime detection and lost mobile phone recovery, setting a new benchmark in law enforcement with advanced tracking systems and specialized cybercrime units.

Since 2023, the department has successfully traced and recovered over 60,000 stolen or lost mobile phones, providing significant relief to the public. The proactive approach, combined with strong technological interventions, has not only ensured financial recovery for victims but also strengthened public trust in the police force, stated the Director General of Police (DGP) office on Friday.

Telangana Police’s free registration policy has been instrumental in increasing reported cases, ensuring every complaint is taken seriously. This initiative has encouraged people to report crimes without fear, reinforcing the department’s commitment to justice.

With cybercrimes such as online frauds, phishing scams, financial frauds, and identity theft on the rise, Telangana Police has taken decisive steps to counter these offenses. In 2024 alone, the department facilitated the refund of ?183 crore to victims of financial fraud, marking a major success in cybercrime redressal.

While traditional crimes such as murder, burglary, and physical assaults have shown a declining trend, cyber offenses have surged due to increasing digital frauds. Telangana Police continues to enhance its cyber capabilities, tracking mechanisms, and preventive strategies to stay ahead of evolving threats, making it a model of excellence in law enforcement.
