Mangaluru: 'Bhasha Sangam 2025' day-long theatre workshop held at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Mar 29: The department of languages, IQAC, and Journey Theatre Group R, jointly organized ‘Bhasha Sangam 2025 – Ranga Samagama’, a one-day theatre workshop, on Saturday, March 29, at the Milagres College auditorium.

The workshop was inaugurated by Christopher D’Souza, director, Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, at St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. In his address, he emphasized that the undergraduate phase plays a significant role in students’ lives, marking a crucial period for personal and professional growth. He highlighted that workshops of this nature not only foster individual development but also cultivate social awareness. He further stated that theatre is a powerful medium for nurturing both profession and passion.

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, the correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, presided over the programme. In his speech, he stressed that such workshops significantly contribute to students’ creative growth and urged all participants to make the most of the opportunity.

Viddu Uchil, president, Journey Theatre Group R , Mangaluru, along with his team, conducted the workshop through various physical theatre performances, demonstrating effective acting techniques. The event witnessed the participation of 54 students from different colleges under the university.

The workshop was graced by the presence of Sowmya Kotian, head of the department of languages, Chethana Kumari from the IQAC department, and faculty members from various colleges.

The principal of Milagres College, Dr Michael Santhumayor, welcomed the gathering. The event was compered by Josline, while Shravya N delivered the vote of thanks.
