Comedian Swati Sachdeva’s viral joke on parents sparks debate

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 29: Weeks after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, faced massive backlash over a controversial remark, stand-up comedian Swati Sachdeva has now stirred fresh discussions with a joke about her mother.

A clip from her recent performance, where she narrates a humorous yet bold interaction with her mother over finding a personal gadget, has gone viral. While some social media users found it hilarious, others questioned the boundaries of comedy, arguing that family should remain off-limits in humour.

Sachdeva’s joke comes at a time when Allahbadia continues to be under fire for his remarks on Samay Raina’s show, ‘India’s Got Latent’. His controversial question to a contestant—about witnessing or stopping an intimate parental moment—triggered massive outrage, FIRs, and legal trouble.

Following Sachdeva’s viral clip, netizens remain divided. While some called it witty, others accused her of spreading obscenity under the garb of comedy. Some social media users even drew comparisons with the case against Allahbadia, questioning whether similar action would be taken against her.

Meanwhile, YouTuber Samay Raina appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber police on Friday in connection with the ongoing investigation into the controversy surrounding Allahbadia’s remarks. He has been questioned twice this week, with the case continuing to unfold.
