Moodbidri, Mar 30: Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a brutal assault and vehicle vandalism incident after Bajrang Dal activists mistakenly assumed illegal cattle transportation. Moodbidri police inspector Sandesh P G and his team arrested the accused and registered a case of attempted murder.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sudheer Shetty from Kadandale and Dhanaraj from Suratkal, while five others involved in the incident are currently absconding.

The attack took place when Koosappa Poojary from Birava was transporting a young bull from a known contact’s house in Bajagoli, Karkala, to Moodbidri in a vehicle owned by Abdul Rahman from Sangabettu. Bajrang Dal activists stopped the vehicle near Beluvayi, suspecting illegal cattle transport, and severely assaulted Koosappa Poojary and Abdul Rahman.
Despite providing valid documents, the duo was reportedly attacked. Both sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Alva’s Hospital in Moodbidri and Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. Upon receiving information, Moodbidri police rushed to the spot, arrested two accused, and launched a manhunt for the others.
Based on Koosappa Poojary’s complaint, a case of attempted murder has been registered.
