Udupi, Mar 30: "India is a unique nation that embodies unity in diversity, where multiple religions coexist, each following distinct customs and traditions. As Indians, we take pride in this uniqueness. However, considering the current socio-political climate concerning religion and caste across the country, it is alarming to see the weakening of fundamental democratic values such as social justice, harmony, brotherhood, and secularism. It is the responsibility of every Indian to create a conducive atmosphere for upholding the principles of the constitution and democracy," said Vinay Kumar Sorake, president of the KPCC Publicity Committee and former minister.
Speaking at the ‘Harmony Iftar meet’ organized by the Kaup Block Congress Committee at the Community Hall in Kaup-Koppalangadi, Sorake emphasized, "Islam is a religion that spreads the message of love and respect for all faiths, advocating for peace and harmony across the world." He appreciated the participation of people from various religions in the Iftar gathering during the holy month of Ramadan, calling it a symbol of communal harmony.

Delivering the inaugural address, Irshad Saadi, the Khatib of Polipu Juma Masjid, stated that the holy book of Islam, the Quran, preaches religious tolerance, respect for all faiths, and the importance of living with love, peace, and brotherhood. He commended Vinay Kumar Sorake's initiative in bringing people together and promoting secularism and harmony through such programmes.
Alban Rodrigues, the administrator of Kapu Dandathirtha Educational Institution, spoke about the significance and uniqueness of the rigorous fasting observed by Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan and emphasized the message of harmony conveyed through it.
Amrit Shenoy, coordinator of the KPCC Media, Policy, and Research Committee, criticized the ruling administration, stating, "The divisive political agenda of those in power, which seeks to create rifts between religions, is detrimental to democracy."
