New Delhi, Mar 30: President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar extended warm greetings to the nation on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, emphasizing the festival’s message of empathy, compassion, and charity. Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, will be celebrated in India on Monday.
In her message, President Murmu conveyed her best wishes to all Indians, especially Muslim brothers and sisters, in India and abroad. "Eid-ul-Fitr signifies the conclusion of a month of fasting and prayers, reinforcing the values of brotherhood, cooperation, and compassion. This festival encourages social unity and inspires us to build a peaceful and prosperous society. May this occasion bring peace, progress, and happiness to all and strengthen our resolve to move forward with a positive spirit," she stated in a communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Vice President Dhankhar echoed similar sentiments, stating that Eid reminds the nation of its strength in cultural diversity and shared bonds of unity. "The essence of Eid transcends mere celebrations; it embodies our constitutional ideals of unity, compassion, and mutual respect. Let us celebrate the profound spirit of renewal and harmony that this sacred occasion represents," he said in his message.
Meanwhile, clerics in Delhi and Lucknow confirmed the sighting of the moon on Sunday, signaling the end of Ramzan. Naib Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syed Shaban Bukhari, announced that the Shawwal moon had been sighted in multiple states, including Assam, Manipur, Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi. "Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025. I extend my heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to everyone," he declared.
