Indore, Apr 2: In a remarkable medical achievement, doctors at the Government Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital in Indore have successfully removed an 8-kg cyst from the ovary of a 15-year-old girl, following a complex three-hour-long surgical procedure. The life-saving operation has brought immense relief to the young patient and her family.

The surgery was led by gynecologist Dr Sumitra Yadav, who stated that the girl had been experiencing symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, severe abdominal pain, and general discomfort for an extended period. Upon medical examination, a large cyst was discovered in her ovary, requiring immediate intervention.

"A cyst is a closed, sac-like structure that can form anywhere in the body, filled with fluid, semi-solid material, or even air. We were shocked to see the size of the cyst during the surgery. When it was taken out, it weighed about eight kg," Dr Yadav explained.

Prior to the surgery, the girl’s total weight, including the cyst, was recorded at 39 kg. The successful removal of the massive cyst has not only alleviated her symptoms but also significantly improved her overall health.

“The girl's condition is absolutely fine now. If the cyst had not been removed, her life could have been in danger,” Dr Yadav added.

A sample of the cyst has been sent for histopathology testing to determine whether it was cancerous. The doctors have expressed optimism about her recovery, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment in such cases.

The girl’s family has expressed their deep gratitude to the hospital staff for their dedication and expertise in ensuring the success of the surgery.
