Phillaur, Apr 2: Two days after pro-Khalistan and anti-Constitution slogans were spray-painted on the protective glass around BR Ambedkar’s statue in Phillaur, Punjab Police have booked banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun for stoking terror and promoting disharmony.

The fresh FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Khushi Ram, who alleged that Pannun sent an audio message threatening to remove Ambedkar’s statue before April 14 and offered Rs 10 lac to anyone who did so.

The case, registered at Phillaur police station, includes provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act for terrorist acts and promoting enmity, along with the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Phillaur DSP Sarwan Singh Bal stated that forensic analysis of the audio recording is underway. Meanwhile, the state BSP unit staged a protest at Nangal village, condemning the incident.
