Indrali overpass final stage works should be expedited: Deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari

Udupi, Apr 2: Deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari has directed that all necessary preparations be made to swiftly complete the final stage of construction of the Indrali railway overpass.

She was speaking on Wednesday, April 2 after inspecting the progress of the Indrali railway overpass construction on National Highway 169A, connecting Udupi city and Manipal.

The welding work for the iron girders of the railway overpass has already been completed, and a local inspection of the welding quality has been conducted by the railway department. She emphasized that the final inspection must be carried out promptly by the Railway Design and Safety Organization in Lucknow.

She further stated that all necessary preparations for installing the iron girders of the railway overpass must be completed. The railway department should schedule a date for the installation, during which railway traffic should be halted temporarily to carry out the work, she suggested.

She instructed that all essential equipment, including large cranes, jacks, rollers, and rails required for the installation of the girders, should be prepared in advance. Additionally, necessary safety precautions should be taken to ensure the secure execution of the project, she added.

Present on the occasion were superintendent of police Dr Arun K, senior engineer of Konkan Railway Gopal Krishna, A E Manjunath from the Public Works Department, contractors, and other officials.
