Kunal Kamra offers vacation to Navi Mumbai banker after police summons

Mumbai, Apr 2: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has offered to sponsor a vacation for a Navi Mumbai banker who was allegedly forced to cut short his trip to Tamil Nadu and Kerala after being summoned by Mumbai Police in connection with a defamation case against the comedian.

The banker, a resident of Kharghar, was on a 17-day holiday and was set to return on April 6. However, after receiving police notice via WhatsApp on March 29, he returned early on April 1. He claimed that officers were sceptical about his out-of-town status and even threatened to visit his residence, forcing him to return.

However, Mumbai Police later denied summoning any audience members from Kamra’s show. A senior officer told PTI that no such notices were issued.

In response, Kamra took to Twitter, stating, “I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience that attending my show has caused you. Please email me so that I can schedule your next vacation anywhere you’d like in India.”

The comedian’s gesture has sparked reactions on social media, with some praising his offer while others questioned the circumstances surrounding the police notice. Meanwhile, the defamation case against Kamra remains ongoing.
