Karkala, Apr 3: The Karnataka high court (HC) on Tuesday granted bail to Dileep Hegde (28), the prime accused in the murder case of Balakrishna Poojary (44) which occurred within the jurisdiction of Ajekar Police Station.

The bail application of Dileep Hegde had earlier been rejected by the second additional district and sessions court, Udupi (Circuit Bench, Karkala) on March 4. Following the rejection, Hegde moved the HC seeking relief.

Justice Vishwajith Shetty, presiding over a single-judge bench, heard the plea and granted bail to the accused. Advocate Nishchith Kumar represented Dileep Hegde during the proceedings.

The case dates back to October 20, 2024, when Balakrishna Poojary was allegedly murdered by his wife Prathima and her lover Dileep Hegde. The Ajekar Police arrested both accused on October 25 and remanded them to judicial custody.
