Mumbai, Apr 3: Prafulla S K Urval (80), wife of the late S K Urval, founder of the prestigious professional education institute IITC, passed away on Thursday morning at her residence, Sannidhan, in Wadala, Mumbai, due to age-related ailments.
Hailing from undivided Dakshina Kannada’s Udupi, she was the daughter of renowned lawyer Vasudev Rao. She is survived by two sons, Vikrant Urval and Sandesh Urval, who are directors of IITC, and a daughter, Sujata Rao, along with a large family.

A devout follower of Hindu traditions and values, Prafulla Urval actively participated in religious and social service activities. She was a dedicated devotee of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna and was actively involved in the religious programs at Udupi Sri Pejawar Math (Madhva Bhavan, Mumbai) in Santacruz East and Sri Adamaru Math in Irla, Andheri West.
A philanthropist and patron of the arts, she regularly organized annual devotional music events in Mumbai, featuring renowned artists like Dr Vidyabhushana and Puttur Narasimha Nayak. Several prominent personalities from Mumbai have expressed their condolences and paid tribute to her demise.
