Hubballi, Apr 3: Right-wing organization Sri Ram Sena has announced a mass self-defense training event, ‘Trishul Deeksha,’ for 1,000 Hindu women on April 18, marking the first death anniversary of college student Neha Hiremath, who was murdered on her campus by her alleged jilted lover.

Neha was fatally stabbed by Fayaz Kondikoppa at her college in Hubballi, sparking outrage and demands for justice. Her father, Congress corporator Niranjan Hiremath, has repeatedly called for the case to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), alleging it as a case of "love jihad."

Sri Ram Sena founder and national president Pramod Muthalik said, “It has been almost a year since Neha Hiremath’s brutal murder. On April 18, we will conduct ‘Trishul Deeksha’ for 1,000 Hindu women to empower them with self-defense skills. Women need to be courageous and prepared to defend themselves against those who seek to harm or exploit them.”

Muthalik emphasized that the event aims to instill bravery, resilience, and self-protection skills among women. He also cited a recent case in Hubballi where a man named Siraj allegedly harassed a Hindu girl and pressured her into marriage. After rejecting him, he reportedly barged into her hostel and assaulted her, leading the girl to attempt self-harm. She was later admitted to KIMS Hospital and is recovering.

He criticized the authorities, stating, “Cases of ‘love jihad’ are rising daily, and the Congress government, along with the police department, is failing to act.”

Muthalik also commented on the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Lok Sabha, calling it a “historic moment.” He claimed that the Waqf Board had been exploiting government land and temple properties for decades. “This amendment will benefit poor Muslims who have long been manipulated by mullahs, moulvis, and Congress leaders,” he asserted.

The ‘Trishul Deeksha’ event is expected to be a significant gathering in Hubballi, with a focus on women's empowerment and self-defense training.
