Chile can serve as India's gateway to South America: President Gabriel Boric Font

Mumbai, Apr 3: Expressing his amazement over his visit to India, the country he was always fascinated about, President of Chile Gabriel Boric Font has said that Chile can serve as India's gateway to South American countries.

Expressing satisfaction over his meeting with prime minister Narendra Modi and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with India, the 39-year-old President Gabriel Boric said apart from enhancing economic and commercial co-operation with India, Chile is keen to learn from India's culture and increase its collaboration with agro industries.

Mentioning that the Hindi film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ had helped in promoting tourism in Spain in a big way, the president called for joint collaboration in film making between India and Chile.

He said Chile has several exotic locations for shooting and that a joint venture will make tourist places in Chile popular in India.

Welcoming the Chilean president to Maharashtra, governor Radhakrishnan said tourism and trade have the potential to strengthen ties between the two countries.

He expressed the hope that with the opening of Navi Mumbai International Airport, direct connectivity will be established between India and Chile.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Alberto Van Klaveren, ambassador of Chile to India Juan Angulo, minister of culture Carolina Arredondo and adviser to the president for International Affairs Carlos Figueroa were present.
