Gaza, Apr 4: In a devastating escalation of violence, at least 112 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza over the past 24 hours, with a significant number of victims being women and children.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 33 people were killed in three separate attacks on schools in Gaza City that were being used as shelters for displaced families. Reports indicate that the conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 50,523 Palestinians and injuries to over 114,638 others. However, the Government Media Office has updated the toll to more than 61,700, stating that thousands more are presumed dead under the rubble.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society’s president described the recent killing of 15 medics and emergency workers as “one of the darkest moments” of the ongoing conflict, suggesting it may constitute a war crime.

Meanwhile, Israel has reportedly ordered additional forced expulsions from southern neighborhoods of Gaza City. The United Nations estimates that approximately 280,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced since the ceasefire was broken on March 18.

The conflict has also taken a heavy toll on Israel, with at least 1,139 people killed during Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 individuals taken captive.

The international community continues to express concern over the escalating violence, with calls for restraint and adherence to humanitarian principles amid the worsening humanitarian crisis.
