Bantwal, Apr 6: A youth who had been mentally harassing young women by sending obscene messages was assaulted by locals at Kudthamugairu in Kolnadu village on April 5.
The assaulted youth has been identified as Savad (20), a resident of Panjaje in Kanyana. Savad, who was working at a clothing store in Koramangala, Bengaluru, had allegedly been sending vulgar messages to young women via mobile phone. He would also pressure them to engage in video calls late at night, sometimes making obscene demands.
Upon learning about his activities, a group of youths devised a plan to teach him a lesson. They contacted him using a number pretending to be one of the girls. Believing he was communicating with a young woman, Savad agreed to meet at Kudthamugairu. When he arrived, locals caught him red-handed. He was beaten up and later handed over to the police.
