Mangaluru, Apr 7: A fire broke out at a lodge in the city's port area on Saturday, causing property damage worth several lacs of rupees.
According to reports, an individual had rented a room on the second floor of the lodge. The room was locked and left vacant during the afternoon. Smoke was later noticed coming from the room in the evening.

Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and found that the television, bedding, and furniture had been completely gutted. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner.
