Kalaburagi, Apr 7: A guest teacher at a primary school in the Kalaburagi district has been arrested following allegations of raping a 14-year-old student. The shocking incident was reported to the Madana Hipparaga police station in the Aland taluk.

Police state that the accused teacher, a guest faculty member at the village primary school, allegedly sexually assaulted the Class 8 student at her home. The teacher reportedly entered the girl's residence when she was alone.

Following the filing of a complaint, police have registered a case under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have apprehended the accused. The teacher had been employed at the school for the past two years.

The victim was home alone as her mother had gone to her parents' house with other children to celebrate the Ugadi festival, and her father was away for work. The accused teacher allegedly took advantage of this situation after learning she was alone.

Reports indicate that the accused followed the girl home after school on March 28th, entered her house, professed his love for her, and then committed the crime. The girl subsequently fell ill, and was taken to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kalaburagi city. Upon learning of the sexual assault, her father filed a police complaint. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.

This incident follows a similar case in November 2024, where a government school teacher near Bengaluru was suspended and arrested under the POCSO Act following complaints of sexual harassment from parents of six girl students.
