DKDBA free summer badminton coaching camp inaugurated at Father Muller indoor stadium

Mangaluru, Apr 8: The inaugural ceremony of the Free Summer Badminton Coaching Camp 2025 was held at the Father Muller Indoor Stadium, Kankanady, on Tuesday, April 8. The event was organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Badminton Association (DKDBA).

The camp, running from April 1 to April 30, has drawn over 100 budding badminton players, who are receiving free training under coaches Stephan Frank and Deekshith.

The inauguration was graced by distinguished guests, including Father Richard Aloysius D’Souza, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, and Father Ajith B Menezes, administrator of Father Muller Medical College.

Addressing the gathering, Father Richard Aloysius D’Souza praised DKDBA for organizing the camp and highlighted the association’s commitment to promoting badminton. He urged the young players to cultivate discipline, devotion, and dedication, and thanked the parents for their encouragement and support.

In his presidential address, Avinash Suvarna, vice-president of DKDBA, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. "We started this unique concept under the association to provide free badminton coaching for young talents. It will be a proud moment for all of us if any of these children excel at the state, national, or international levels," he said.

The event was also attended by R Srinivas Baliga (secretary, DKDBA), Ivan Alfred Patrao (vice-president), A S Venkatesh (joint secretary), Vinay Kumar, Ivan Pinto, Praveen Kumar Bangeera (EC member), Ganesh Prasad, and Suresh.

The gathering was welcomed by Dayanand P S, treasurer of DKDBA, who also proposed the vote of thanks.
