Mangaluru Basketball Club clinches historic fourth consecutive Karnataka League title

Mangaluru, Apr 8: The Mangaluru Basketball Club (MBC) has scripted history by winning the Karnataka Basketball League Championship for a record fourth consecutive time. The tournament, organized by the Karnataka State Basketball Association, was held from April 3 to 6 at Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium, featuring 42 teams from across the state.

The champions not only lifted the coveted trophy but also secured a cash prize of Rs 75,000. Adding to the glory, Mangaluru's Prasthik Kumar was adjudged the tournament's Best Player.

MBC showcased sheer dominance throughout the league:

  • Semifinal League: Defeated Kuvempu Basketball Club (Gulbarga) 75-51, Mallasajan Dharwad 84-51, and VBC Mandya 90-58.
  • Earlier League Matches: Overcame YFBC Kolar (62-48), Inspire Dharwad (63-33), Mallasajan Dharwad (95-68), and Vijayanagara Mysuru (84-74) to qualify for the semifinals.

The team's relentless performance reaffirms its supremacy in Karnataka's basketball circuit.
