Gurugram, Apr 9: The Cyber Crime Police (East) of Gurugram has arrested four individuals from Haryana's Hisar district for allegedly duping people by fraudulently selling iPhones through social media platforms.
The accused have been identified as Sunny, Aniket, Hitesh Jangra, and Mukesh alias Rohit. Police recovered six mobile phones, one ATM card, two bank passbooks, and cash amounting to Rs 18,000 from the accused.

According to police officials, the case was registered following a complaint filed on January 29, in which the complainant alleged that he was cheated of approximately Rs 30,000 in a fake iPhone sale deal online.
Following the complaint, a case was lodged at the Cyber Crime East Police Station, Gurugram. Under the directives of assistant commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime/DLF) Vikas Kaushik, a team led by the SHO of the police station traced the accused and arrested them from Hisar.
Police informed that Aniket, Sunny, and Hitesh were arrested on April 3, while Mukesh was also subsequently nabbed. The trio Aniket, Sunny, and Hitesh were produced in court and remanded to four days in police custody, following which they were sent to jail.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the bank account used in the fraud was registered in Aniket’s name, while the associated mobile number was under Sunny’s name. The account was initially sold by Aniket and Sunny to Hitesh for monetary gain.
Further investigation revealed that Hitesh resold the same account to Mukesh, who then used it to carry out fraudulent transactions by posing as a seller of iPhones on social media.
Sandeep Kumar, Spokesperson for Gurugram Police, stated that Sunny received Rs 4,000, Aniket Rs 8,000, and Hitesh Rs 20,000 for transferring control of the bank account. Mukesh, who ultimately used the account for scamming, is said to be the main perpetrator behind the iPhone fraud racket.
Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant while making online purchases and avoid transactions with unverified sellers.
