Madikeri, Apr 9: Karnataka Leader of the Opposition (LoP) R Ashoka on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government, alleging that Hindu workers are being systematically targeted and killed whenever Congress is in power in the state.
Speaking during the Janakrosh Yatra held in Madikeri, Ashoka claimed, “Whenever Congress comes to power, Hindu workers are murdered. Prashant Poojari, RSS’s Raju, Rajesh Kotian, Praveen Poojari, Charan Poojari, Vishwanath – these are just a few of the many Hindu workers who were killed by radical outfits like the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).”

He also referred to the alleged suicide of Vinay Somaiah from Kodagu, blaming "constant harassment" and asserting that such targeting of Hindus would not be tolerated for long.
Recalling past incidents, Ashoka said, “During Tipu Jayanti celebrations in Kodagu, an elderly person named Kuttappa lost his life. The Congress government is attempting to divide Hindus by offering reservations to Muslims in government contracts.”
The BJP leader further alleged that “if Siddaramaiah continues as Chief Minister, he will hand over Karnataka to Pakistan,” drawing parallels between incidents in Kodagu and those that previously occurred in Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking aim at the state home minister, Ashoka claimed that “even when young women are raped, G Parameshwara brushes it off as a routine matter. Police officials are acting on the instructions of Congress leaders.”
He accused the Congress of suppressing crimes against Hindu workers and women, and urged the police to uphold justice rather than succumb to political pressure for transfers or financial gain.
Ashoka also criticized the government's economic policies, alleging that tax hikes and rising prices have severely impacted the common people. “If Congress ministers or MLAs come to meet the public, they must be heckled and questioned,” he urged.
He further claimed that the state’s public healthcare system was crumbling. “Hospitals are short of medicines, yet the Congress wants the public to sing praises,” he said.
Attacking the government’s financial management, Ashoka stated, “Siddaramaiah has taken more loans than any CM before him. He’s burdening the people to fund his guarantee schemes. Congress is collecting money from the people and sucking their blood.”
The Janakrosh Yatra, a statewide protest campaign by the BJP, aims to highlight alleged governance failures and corruption under the Congress-led government.
