Delhi airport to shift all T2 flights to terminal 1 from Apr 15 amid maintenance work

New Delhi, Apr 11: In a major operational shift, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has announced that all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 (T2) will be moved to Terminal 1 (T1) starting April 15, 2025. The change comes in light of planned maintenance and runway upgrade work at T2, which will remain non-operational for the next few months.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has issued a public advisory urging passengers to check updated schedules and terminal details with their respective airlines, as the ongoing work may lead to delays and rescheduling of flights.

“Effective 15th April 2025 (0001 hrs), all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 will shift to Terminal 1 until further notice,” Delhi Airport stated. “This change is due to planned maintenance work at Terminal 2. Kindly check your flight status here: https://lnkd.in/g85RfUrx or contact the airline concerned.”

Major Indian carriers including IndiGo Airlines, Air India, and Akasa Air have confirmed the shift and begun issuing advisories to passengers.

IndiGo, in a statement on X, said, “In view of a planned maintenance activity, flights previously scheduled from Delhi Terminal 2 have now been reassigned to Terminal 1 starting April 15, 2025. We request all passengers to verify terminal and flight status on our website before arriving at the airport.”

The maintenance and upgradation work at T2 is expected to continue for four to six months, with completion aimed for the September quarter of the next financial year. The move is part of broader efforts to enhance airport infrastructure and passenger convenience.

Meanwhile, the expansion and modernisation of Terminal 1 under the airport’s Phase 3A development project have been completed, allowing for the temporary accommodation of additional flight operations.

“The expanded world-class integrated Terminal 1 is now ready to handle increased capacity,” the DIAL added.

Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated through official airline and airport communication channels to avoid inconvenience.
