Sullia, Apr 13: A car accident in Devarakolli area of Sullia led to the discovery of ganja (cannabis) during police inspection on April 12 evening.

The incident occurred when a car traveling from Periyapatna to Puttur via Madikeri lost control and overturned near Devarakolli. Local residents who came to help the occupants noticed suspicious packets inside the vehicle and informed Madikeri rural police.

Upon inspection, police found several packets of ganja in the car. They have taken three Puttur residents - Fazruddin, Mustaq, and Jabir - into custody along with the seized contraband.

Authorities are investigating both the accident and the drug possession case. Preliminary reports suggest the occupants were transporting the banned substance. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.

The police have registered separate cases regarding the accident and drug possession under relevant sections of law.

Who are these people who are consuming so much ganja? It is high time to that law and police must punish the people who consume ganja as well. This will create fear among the consumers and less demand. And hence it will put the peddlers out of business
