Mangaluru: Four women rescued from drowning; police honour lifesavers

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Members of the Shivaji Jeevarakshaka Dala at Mogaveerapatna, Ullal, rescued four women from drowning at the Ullal beach on Sunday, April 13 afternoon.

The women, who had come from Nayandahalli, Bengaluru, had visited the Kuthar Koragajja temple and later proceeded to Ullal beach for an outing. The group included Padmini (38), Sowmya (39), Bindu (20), Manjula (35), and Savitha (38).

While playing in the waters, four women got trapped in strong waves and were at risk of drowning. Acting swiftly, members of the Shivaji Lifesaving Team rushed into the sea and successfully brought all four women safely back to shore.

Ullal police, who arrived at the scene upon receiving information, immediately shifted the rescued women to a private hospital for treatment.

In recognition of their timely action and bravery, Ullal police inspector Virupaksha felicitated the members of the Shivaji Jeevarakshaka Dala for saving precious lives.
