Mangalore, Jan 19:  ‘Media Manthan’, a two-day national level seminar and media fiesta will be held at St Aloysius College here on January 20 and 21. Media and environment- leveraging media power to protect our environment – is the theme of the two day event.

The event will offer a healthy blend of knowledge generation and display of talent by various participants and scholars. Various papers on diverse topics touching on media and environment will be presented by senior/junior lecturers, scholars and graduate/post-graduate students.

The idea behind the two-day festival is to enhance the abilities of the students and give them an opportunity to exhibit their talent. Inter-collegiate level competitions involving various media related themes such as Ice-breakers, RJ Hunt (Radio Jockeying), Drop Cap (News Bulletin), In-Grid (Story Board), Shutter Bug (Photography), On Air (Live Reporting) and Mobile Frames (Mobile Movie) will be conducted simultaneously.

Media-Manthan 2012 is open to students and general public and there’s no registration fee. Last year’s Media Manthan was adjudged a grand success, with the theme - Media and Manipulation - touching upon the irregularities in media coverage and reporting. With speakers and veterans from various fields expressing their opinions, the two-day seminar encouraged the media professionals to be fair and unbiased in their work.
