Udupi, Apr 15: A hotel located near Malpe beach was completely gutted in a fire incident that occurred late on Tuesday, April 15 night.

The blaze broke out near the bathing and toilet complex frequently used by tourists at the Malpe beach bay. Fire tenders from Malpe and Udupi, along with local residents, rushed to the spot and worked together to douse the flames.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after the hotel was closed for the day by its owner.

Initial estimates suggest that property and items worth approximately Rs 15 lac were destroyed in the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.
