Mumbai, Apr 16: The women’s wing of Karnataka Vishwakarma Association, one of Mumbai’s prominent organizations, celebrated its 30th annual day on Sunday, April 13, at the association's hall ‘Priya’ at Shri Vishwakarma Bhavan, Meera Road.
The event was presided over by association president Ravish G Acharya. Lakshmi Janardhan Acharya, president of the women’s wing of Shri Kalikamba Vishwakarma Seva Sangha, Panvel, graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. In her address, she expressed her joy at how women have actively involved themselves in various fields and, with the support of their families, have played a vital role in the association’s activities, becoming its backbone.
























President Ravish G Acharya, in his speech, commended the women for balancing their household and childcare responsibilities while also contributing actively to the association for the past 30 years. He expressed his delight at the successful organization of the event and thanked all the dignitaries who supported the Women’s Wing. He noted that the association is on its way to celebrating its 80th anniversary and encouraged more women to join hands and contribute to its success.
Vice President Veena Shivanand Acharya was present on the dais. On this occasion, women who have made significant contributions to strengthening the Women’s Wing – Shubha Sunil Acharya, Kalpana Chandrakant Acharya, Manjula Ramachandra Acharya, Chandrakala Sridhar Acharya, and Yogini Raghav Acharya – were felicitated in the presence of the dignitaries. Senior member Roopa Prabhashankar Acharya was honoured with special recognition.
As part of recognising young talent in the community, Kumari Shreya Ganesh Acharya, who represented the state in sports, and advocate Meenakshi Acharya, recipient of the Economic Times Annual Award, were honoured. Kalpana Acharya and Shubha Sunil Acharya, upon receiving their honours, shared their thoughts with the gathering.
Former presidents of the association – M A Acharya, Nitte Damodar Acharya, Gopalakrishna T Acharya, and immediate past president Kalyanpur Sadananda Acharya – were also felicitated by the women’s wing.
The cultural segment featured a variety of dance performances by the children of association members and volunteers from the youth and women’s wings. Members of the women’s wing also performed a humorous short skit titled Sarakari Shaaleyya Kiri Kiri Makkalu, directed by renowned Mumbai-based playwright and comedy king Ashok Kumar Kodyadka.
The event saw participation from senior members, women, executive committee members, and children.
The women’s wing began the event with a prayer. Women’s wing president Sujatha Gopal Acharya delivered the welcome address, elaborating on the journey of the women’s wing and its collaborative efforts with the youth wing. The event was compered jointly by Rajeshwari Satish Acharya and Amitha Dharmaja Acharya, both coordinators of the Women’s Wing. Amitha Dharmaja Acharya also proposed the vote of thanks.
