Gaza, Apr 17: At least 25 people have been killed following a series of Israeli airstrikes on displaced Palestinian encampments across Gaza, according to reports from Gaza's civil defense agency on Thursday. The strikes hit multiple areas, including tents in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

Mahmud Bassal, a spokesperson for Gaza's civil defense, confirmed that a direct overnight strike on tents in the Al-Mawasi area resulted in 16 fatalities, most of them women and children. "At least 16 martyrs, most of them women and children, and 23 others were wounded after two Israeli missiles directly targeted tents housing displaced families in Khan Yunis," Bassal said.

Additionally, two more airstrikes on encampments for displaced people left eight dead and several others injured. Seven people lost their lives in an attack on tents in the northern town of Beit Lahia, while another strike near Al-Mawasi killed a father and his child who were living in one of the tents.

This escalation has further deepened the suffering of Gaza's displaced population, already grappling with the ongoing conflict.
