BJP targets Karnataka Congress over alleged bias and governance failures

Bagalkote, Apr 17: The BJP launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Karnataka government during a massive protest in Bagalkote on Thursday, accusing it of sidelining Hindus and failing to deliver on its promises of inclusive development.

Speaking at the Janakrosh Yatra, Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra questioned the state’s welfare distribution, claiming bias against the Hindu majority. “Why are Hindus being excluded from benefits like Rs 50,000 marriage aid and Rs 30 lakh education support offered to Muslims?” he asked.

Vijayendra also criticized the government's 4% reservation for Muslims, saying, “Are there no poor among Hindus? Whose money is this?”

The protest drew thousands of party supporters and leaders, who marched through the city to voice their anger over rising prices, the Muslim quota in government tenders, and alleged corruption.

Highlighting concerns from across sectors, Vijayendra accused the Siddaramaiah-led government of being “anti-Hindu, anti-farmer, and anti-people,” pointing to farmer suicides, “humiliation of Hindu women,” and incidents of cow slaughter as issues ignored by the Congress regime.

He contrasted the current government’s policies with the previous BJP administration, noting, “Farmers once got transformers for Rs 25,000 under Yediyurappa’s rule. Now, they pay Rs 2.5 to 3 lac.”

Several senior BJP leaders echoed Vijayendra’s criticism. Former CM Jagadish Shettar alleged massive corruption and predicted the government's collapse later this year due to internal conflicts, particularly around the MUDA scam.

Opposition Leader Chalawadi Narayanaswamy claimed Dalits were misled by Siddaramaiah’s promises, while former ministers Govind Karjol and B. Sriramulu accused the Congress of promoting caste politics and stalling development.

The protest is part of the BJP’s wider campaign across Karnataka, positioning itself as the voice of the disillusioned and promising to restore balance if returned to power.
