Islamabad, Jan 19 (IANS): Yousuf Raza Gilani has "accepted majesty of the law", said his lawyer after the prime minister appeared before the Supreme Court that had issued a contempt notice to him.
Aitzaz Ahsan, who represented Gilani, said the prime minister has "accepted majesty of the law".
Ahsan spoke outside the Supreme Court after the case was adjourned till Feb 1.
He said that Gilani himself drove to the court complex.
Supreme Court issued the contempt notice to the prime minister Jan 16 for not implementing a directive to act against President Asif Ali Zardari for corruption.
Zardari, accused of graft, had been granted amnesty under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which was issued in 2007 by then president Pervez Musharraf to facilitate the return of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband Zardari. The NRO was struck down as void by the Supreme Court in 2009.
