Mangaluru, Apr 18: Churches across Mangaluru observed Good Friday with solemnity and spiritual reflection as the faithful gathered in large numbers for the traditional Way of the Cross on April 18 at Our Lady of Miracles Church, Milagres and several other churces.
Worshippers assembled at various parishes in the city to retrace the suffering and final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. The Stations of the Cross were prayerfully observed, with each station evoking the deep pain, sacrifice and compassion associated with the crucifixion of Christ.

Devotees, dressed in sombre colours, participated in the ceremony with devotion, pausing at each station to reflect on the Lord’s Passion. The procession served as a moment of introspection, calling the faithful to embrace the values of love, forgiveness and humility.
Clergy across churches reminded the congregation that Good Friday is not only a commemoration of Christ’s suffering, but also a call to renew one's faith through sacrifice, penance and service to others.
The day’s ceremonies will culminate with the Good Friday liturgy beginning at 4 pm in most churches. The service includes the reading of the Passion of Christ, solemn intercessory prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross, and the communion service.
As the faithful reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, the observance of Good Friday paves the way for the celebration of His resurrection on Easter Sunday.
