New Delhi, Apr 20: US vice president J D Vance, accompanied by his Indian-origin wife Usha Chilukuri Vance and their three children, is set to arrive in India on Sunday evening for a four-day official visit the first by a sitting US vice president in over a decade.

Vance’s visit, part of a broader international tour, follows his stopover in Italy and comes 11 years after Joe Biden's visit to India as vice president in 2013.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host Vance for talks and dinner at his official residence, where key discussions will focus on the long-pending India-US trade agreement and boosting strategic cooperation. National security advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are expected to participate in the high-level dialogue.

Vance will be accompanied by a five-member US delegation, including senior officials from the Pentagon and the State Department.

The vice president and his family will head to Jaipur on April 21. A cultural tour of the Amer Palace is planned for April 22, featuring a traditional Rajasthani welcome with folk performances, regional cuisine, and local attire. Security arrangements include a 20-vehicle convoy and a dedicated medical response team.

Later that day, Vance will address the US-India Business Summit at the Rajasthan International Centre, where he is expected to outline his vision for stronger economic ties between the two democracies.

On April 23, he will visit the Taj Mahal in Agra and return to Jaipur the same afternoon to tour the City Palace. Vance is also scheduled to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagade.

The visit concludes on April 24, with Vance set to depart for Washington early morning. The high-profile tour is expected to further cement India-US collaboration on regional stability and global challenges.
