Jamshedpur, Apr 21: Vinay Kumar Singh (46), national vice president and Jharkhand state president of Karni Sena, was shot dead late Sunday night in Jamshedpur, sparking massive outrage among his supporters.

Singh, a resident of Aastha Space Township in Mango, left home Sunday afternoon for land-related work and did not return. Around 11 pm, his body was found in a bush off a dirt road near NH-33 (Tata-Ranchi Road) with bullet wounds to the head and other injuries. Police recovered a scooty, mobile phone, and pistol from the spot.

His family alleged the pistol was planted to mislead the investigation, insisting Singh had no criminal links. He also owned a tile shop and was active in real estate dealings. Sources said he had received threats recently.

Enraged by the incident, Karni Sena supporters blocked Dimna Chowk and NH-33, demanding swift action. They also criticized the police for the delayed ambulance response. The blockade was lifted around 1 am after the body was taken for post-mortem.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed. DSP Bachan Deo Kujur said all leads are being probed and assured that the culprits will be brought to justice soon.
