Puttur: Gold ornaments stolen from two houses in Tekkaru village

Puttur, Apr 24: In a daring theft reported on Tuesday night, unidentified miscreants broke into two houses in Tekkaru village of Beltangady taluk and made away with gold ornaments worth lacs of rupees.

The first incident took place at the residence of Guttumane Mustafa in Tekkaru village. The thief entered the house while Mustafa’s wife and daughter were asleep and stole a total of 12 grams of gold, including three rings, and another four rings weighing 6 grams, along with Rs 3,000 in cash.

In another incident on the same night, a thief broke into the house of Anwar, a resident of Kodi Mane in the same village. The culprit sneaked in while the family was asleep, rummaged through the cupboard, and in a hurry to grab the cash inside, dropped some of the money on the floor. The noise woke up the lady of the house, prompting the thief to flee the scene.

Uppinangady police visited both locations and have launched an investigation. A dog squad and fingerprint experts were called in to aid the probe.
