Mangalore bishop condemns Pahalgam tragedy in Kashmir

Media Release

Mangaluru, Apr 24: “The heinous act of terrorists who killed innocent civilians visiting Kashmir — known as the crown jewel of India — is highly condemnable. Firing indiscriminately on innocent people who had committed no wrong is a blot on humanity,” stated the Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of the diocese of Mangalore, expressing his deep sorrow.

“During the holiday, families including women and children had travelled to Pahalgam in Kashmir for a vacation. There, the terrorists primarily targeted men and shot them in the head, killing 26 individuals. Such a sinful act is unacceptable in any civil society. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace and the injured recover swiftly. May God give the bereaved families the strength to bear this grief,” he said.

In his message, the bishop urged the government to take strict action and ensure that no one responsible for this is spared.
