Bengaluru, April 26: In a road rage case that sparked nationwide attention, the Karnataka High Court has restrained Bengaluru city police from taking any coercive action against Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, who faces an FIR involving charges of attempted murder.
The interim order was passed on April 24 by Justice Hemant Chandangoudar, during a hearing of Bose’s plea challenging the FIR registered against him in connection with the alleged assault.
The incident took place on April 21 near C V Raman Nagar. Initially, police acted on a complaint filed by Bose, in which he alleged that a call centre employee, Vikas Kumar S J, had physically attacked him. However, a counter-complaint filed by Kumar led to a second FIR being registered against Bose, escalating the matter with serious allegations including attempted murder.
In its interim direction, the High Court ordered that police must not take coercive measures or issue summons to the IAF officer without adhering to due legal process. It further directed that a charge sheet must not be filed without prior permission from the court.
The court also emphasised that the petitioner must extend full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation.
The case, involving a senior defence officer and serious criminal allegations, has ignited considerable public and media interest.
