Udupi, Apr 27: Expressing profound grief over the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, MLA G Janardhana Reddy on Saturday drew upon the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, stating that evil must be destroyed for dharma to prevail, and that peace should rest on the foundation of Sanatana Dharma and spiritual values.

Speaking in Udupi, Reddy said, “It is hard to come to terms with such a tragedy.” He referred to Lord Krishna’s message in the Bhagavad Gita, noting, “The Lord has shown us that the destruction of evil is essential for the protection of dharma.” He added that prayers were being offered to Lord Krishna and Goddess Mookambika to give India the strength to eradicate evil and ensure lasting peace.

Reddy expressed full confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that he believes they will take the necessary and appropriate action in response to the attack.

He also took a firm stance against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s recent remarks on avoiding war with Pakistan, describing them as “shameful and humiliating.” In a sharp critique, Reddy remarked, “Individuals come and go, but the land, water, and soil of our nation are eternal. Making statements in favour of Pakistan is foolishness.”

Urging restraint and responsibility from public leaders, Reddy said such matters should be left to the divine will. “Let Lord Krishna grant good sense to those making such statements,” he said.

Turning personal in his remarks, Reddy commented on Siddaramaiah’s political journey and age. “Being chief minister twice does not mean power is permanent. No one knows when they may have to step down. At the age of 76, at least now, one must speak wisely and responsibly.”

He concluded with a spiritual appeal, stating, “Stand for the sanctity of Bharat and earn punya (merit). Demonic attitudes will be answered by Lord Krishna himself.”
