Agartala, Apr 28: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday paid rich tribute to B.R. Ambedkar, hailing him as a visionary architect of social equality and a guiding force behind India's democratic foundation.

Speaking at an event marking Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala, Saha drew parallels between Ambedkar's ideals and the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Ambedkar's thoughts and ideals are clearly reflected in the works of Prime Minister Modi," Saha said, highlighting government initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized communities.

"PM Modi has ensured that the poor gain access to banking services without interference from middlemen. Through schemes like Mudra Yojana, tribals, scheduled castes, dalits, and women have gained financial independence," he added.

The Chief Minister also underlined Tripura’s efforts to align with Modi’s vision, implementing numerous schemes for the welfare of backward classes, scheduled castes, and dalit communities.

Reflecting on Ambedkar’s legacy, Saha noted, "When India’s first Union Cabinet was formed, Ambedkar served as the Law Minister. He worked tirelessly against hatred and injustice. He was a champion for the oppressed, and although he was belatedly conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1990, his contributions are unparalleled."

Saha emphasized that Ambedkar’s vision was rooted in ensuring fundamental rights, economic empowerment, and a superstition-free society.

"Ambedkar wanted an India free from exploitation and advocated the development of industries and agriculture as key drivers of national growth. His tireless efforts have made it possible for us to live together in equality today," the Chief Minister said, urging the youth to learn more about Ambedkar’s monumental role in shaping modern India.

The seminar was attended by several prominent leaders, including Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Paschim Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati (in-charge) Biswajit Shil, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department Director Jayanta Dey.
