Puttur, May 4: A youth from Tannirupantha near Beltangady has landed in legal trouble after allegedly uploading a provocative video on Instagram aimed at disturbing communal harmony.

The accused, identified as Dhanush, a resident of Beltangady, is said to have circulated content capable of inciting enmity between communities and posing a threat to public peace. Following this, a case was registered against him at Punjalakatte police station on May 4.

The case has been filed under FIR number 30/2025 under Sections 196(1)(A) and 353(1)(C) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – 2023.

Police sources informed that the video, shared on the social media platform Instagram, had inflammatory content that could disrupt law and order. Preliminary investigations suggest that the video was created and posted with malicious intent.

Authorities have initiated a detailed probe into the matter. The incident has sparked concern among locals who stressed the importance of maintaining communal harmony and curbing such unlawful acts.

Further legal action will follow based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
