Bantwal, May 5: In an incident reported on Saturday night, miscreants attempted to steal batteries from four scooters parked in front of Sri Varadeshwara Temple in Farangipete and caused damage to the vehicles.

According to locals, several women who work night shifts usually ride their scooters from home and park them in front of the temple before heading to work. As usual, on Saturday night, the scooters were parked in front of the temple, and upon returning on Sunday morning, the women found that the scooters had been damaged.

The miscreants had broken open the front covers of the scooters in an attempt to steal the batteries. However, none of the batteries were actually stolen. The reason behind this act remains unknown.

A case in this regard has been registered at the Bantwal rural police station.
