Bengaluru, May 6: Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra voiced strong support on Tuesday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expected response to the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting confidence that “strict action” will be taken against those responsible. Speaking from the state BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, Vijayendra stressed that global attention is now focused on the attack, which has isolated Pakistan diplomatically.
“There is a widespread expectation that PM Modi will act firmly against the evil forces responsible,” he stated.
Addressing national mock drills being held post-Pahalgam, he noted they reflect the government’s seriousness in bolstering national security.
Shifting focus to state politics, Vijayendra launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led Karnataka government, accusing it of minority appeasement, neglecting Hindu interests, and allowing breakdowns in law and order.
Key Allegations by Vijayendra:
• Mob lynching, Hindu activist murders, and stabbing incidents in Mangaluru region allegedly showcase the government’s failure.
• Police morale is being “demoralised”, especially in incidents like the Mysuru police station mob attack.
• Karnataka is becoming a "battlefield," with violence occurring "in broad daylight.”
He urged the Siddaramaiah government to restore peace and stop inciting unrest through inflammatory rhetoric.
Political Campaigning & Caste Census Remarks:
Vijayendra also announced the resumption of the BJP’s ‘Janakrosh Yatra’:
• Kolar on May 8
• Tumakuru and Chitradurga on May 9
• Ballari and Hosapete to follow
• Final rally in Hubballi on May 14
At the OBC Morcha meeting, he contrasted PM Modi’s caste census plans with what he called the "ill-intentions" of CM Siddaramaiah. He criticised the Congress government’s deliberation over the internal reservation for SCs and handling of the controversial Kantharaju caste census report.
