Jaipur, May 7: Following India’s surgical air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan, Rajasthan has been placed on high alert, especially across its border districts and the capital city, Jaipur. Four flights were cancelled at Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday, while Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma rushed back to the state from Gujarat to oversee emergency preparedness measures.
In response to the heightened security situation, a full-scale mock drill is set to be carried out in Jaipur. Warning sirens will sound at 24 strategic locations, including the Collectorate, Shastri Nagar, Chandpole Power House, Chaugan Stadium, BSNL Office on MI Road, Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, Zorawar Singh Gate, MNIT, Durgapura, and Bajaj Nagar.
A night-time blackout drill will also be conducted across the city, with sirens scheduled to sound at multiple key sites to test preparedness in case of an emergency.
District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni confirmed the plans and said, “The sirens will alert residents and help authorities evaluate readiness during night-time scenarios as well.”
Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant issued formal orders for the drills during a video conference with senior state officials. The preparatory meeting held at the Collector’s office saw participation from Divisional Commissioner Poonam, IG Jaipur Range Ajay Pal Lamba, and senior officials from various departments.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who had been attending a BJP training camp in Kevadia, Gujarat, returned to Jaipur and headed straight to the Chief Minister’s Office to chair a high-level meeting focused on security and drill arrangements.
Security has also been beefed up at Jaipur Junction Railway Station. RPF Assistant Commandant PK Verma and Station Officer Pradeep Kumar supervised security drills and inspection procedures. Additional police forces have been deployed at Jaipur Airport and other critical points in the city.
As part of the alert measures, four flights were cancelled from Jaipur: IndiGo 6E-7742, 6E-7718, and 6E-7414 to Chandigarh, and Oman Air OV-796 to Muscat.
