Kasargod, Jan 22: In a series of thefts reported in Uppala on the night of Friday January 20, six sovereigns of gold, a watch, and cash amounting to Rs 36,800 was reported stolen from four houses.
 
The back door of the house of Mohammed of Mannanguli was broken open by the thieves and gold and Rs 9,800 cash was stolen. Also a watch worth Rs 3,500 was stolen. The house of Zubair in the same locality was also targeted by the thieves and the front door of his house was broken and Rs 1,000 in cash which was kept in a cupboard was stolen.

Umarabba of Parekatte also lost six sovereigns of gold and Rs 23,000 cash to the thieves. An attempt by the thieves to target the house of Noor Mohammed was futile.

They, however, got Rs 4,000 and a mobile phone from the house of Kasim in Hidayath Nagara but left behind the mobile phone. A case has been registered in Manjeshwar police station and the police conducted a spot investigation.
