Mangaluru, May 9: The inaugural function of the international conference on “Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering Sciences (RTIMES-2025)” was held on May 9 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru.
The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde, dean, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Srinivas University, Mukka, Mangaluru. The programme was presided over by Dr Gopalakrishna Bhat, head of the department of Chemistry, Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde emphasised the importance of fostering a strong research culture among students. He encouraged all students to actively engage in research activities and aim to publish their project work in reputed Scopus-indexed journals, as well as present their findings at international conferences.
He highlighted that even low-investment, cost-effective experiments can lead to high-quality publications in Q1 or Q2 journals, provided researchers approach their work with passion, creativity, and adherence to best engineering practices.

In his presidential address, Dr Gopalakrishna Bhat highlighted the importance of conferences in advancing research and development, as well as the critical role of research exchange in keeping pace with the latest trends. He advised students to make optimal use of the facilities and resources available within the institute to improve the quality of their research work.
Prof Jayaram Thumbey, organising secretary of RTIMES 2025, presented the schedule of events planned for the conference and extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Dr Shankar K S, conference chair, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and attendees.
Prof Vivek V Kumar from the department of Marine Engineering served as the master of ceremonies, ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme.
