Man Held for Burying Alive Wife, Three Others


Raipur, Jan 22 (IANS): A 35-year-old man who buried four people alive including his wife and his house owner has been arrested in Chhattisgarh, police said Sunday.

Arun Chandrakar admitted of burying alive the owner of his rented house, Bahadur Singh Thakur, 50, in January 2005, Raipur Superintendent of Police Dipanshu Kabra told reporters.

"He had also buried his 30-year-old wife Leela, whom he married in 2008, and two close relatives in June and July 2011 respectively."

The accused, from Gunderdehi in Durg district, has a track record of burglary and minor crimes. He had been in jail for over two dozen times.

"The four bodies have been dug out and skeletons recovered from Raipur after the accused revealed the sites," the officer said.
