New Delhi, May 16: Operation Sindoor has underscored the critical role of drones in modern warfare, marking a shift in how future military conflicts will be conducted, said Lt Gen Anil Kumar Bhatt (retd), former Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) who managed the Doklam standoff.

In an exclusive interview with PTI Videos on Thursday, Lt Gen Bhatt highlighted that alongside drones, emerging domains like space and cyberspace will shape the new paradigm of warfare in the years ahead. He emphasized that these technological advancements are redefining the battlefield, making future conflicts more complex and multi-dimensional.

The former DGMO also voiced concern over social media voices calling for prolonged conflict with Pakistan, expressing disappointment at war-mongering attitudes that celebrated the brief conflict as a chance to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Lt Gen Bhatt was clear in his stance, stating, “War should always be the last resort. India has successfully achieved its strategic objectives, and prolonged conflict is neither necessary nor desirable.”

His insights come as defense experts and policymakers alike adapt to the evolving nature of military engagements, where technology and new domains are becoming decisive factors.
